This is a bulk 3.0 ounce package of freeze-dried diced red bell peppers. The peppers are washed, sliced and blanched prior to freeze drying, then vacuum sealed in a resealable easy-tear bag for long-term storage.
Rehydrate with water for a few minutes, then heat and serve. One 3.0 ounce package of freeze-dried peppers rehydrates to approximately 30 ounces (just under 2 pounds); each ounce of freeze-dried peppers rehydrates to roughly 10 ounces of fresh peppers. The product can also be eaten straight from the pack as a crunchy, nutritious snack.
Unopened pouches stored in the original sealed packaging and kept out of direct sunlight have a long shelf life, typically up to about 10 years. After opening, reseal the pouch and keep the oxygen absorber and desiccant if present; opened pouches typically retain quality for about 3 months to 1 year depending on conditions. Using a home vacuum sealer can extend the shelf life of opened pouches.
Packaging is a multi-layer mylar-style pouch with an integrated zip closure and a viewing window so you can see the product without opening the bag. Keep pouches sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If oxygen absorbers or moisture desiccants are included, keep them in the pouch when resealing to help preserve quality. Ideal for trail meals, camping, emergency food kits, and recipe use where lightweight, long-lasting vegetables are needed.
