Sealing and Care

To prepare lids for sealing, simmer lids in water at 180 degrees Fahrenheit (80 degrees Celsius) for 10 minutes to activate the sealing compound. After proper canning and cooling, lids form a vacuum seal; a sealed lid cannot be reused to recreate a vacuum seal. Bands are reusable but should be handwashed to reduce the risk of rust. The jars are BPA-free and can be cleaned in the dishwasher between uses.
